Gas manifolds are a part of gas supply system consisting of high pressure manifold, connection elements to each gas source, pressure gauges, venting and purging valves and pressure regulator.
Gas manifolds are used in industry, construction, process lines and medicine. The most common gas sources at the consumer are monoblocks, cylinders or cryocylinders.
The main applications for gas manifolds are gas welding stations, continuous technical gas supply systems, surgical and intensive care units, as well as medical wards.
Manifolds for technical gases
Manifolds for technical gases are the most popular and widespread type of manifolds, which are used for work with air separation products, active and inert gases, as well as with combustible gases.
Manifolds for technical gases can be divided into types on several grounds:
By the type of gas used:
- Manifolds for working with air separation products: for oxygen, nitrogen, argon.
- Manifolds for working with active and inert gases: carbon dioxide, helium, etc.
- Manifolds for working with combustible gases: propane, acetylene, hydrogen, ammonia, etc.
By technological execution:
- Manifolds with one branch - a manifold on which all gas sources are located. Discharge in such Manifolds is performed simultaneously.
- Manifolds with two branches - a two-unit manifold united through the central part, on which gas sources are located on both sides for the possibility of alternate switching and discharging of branches.
By level of automation:
- Manifolds with manual switching of branches.
- Semi-automatic manifolds - switching from one branch to another and manual return to the initial state. Switching is performed from the working group to the reserve group when the pressure drops below the set pressure.
- Automatic manifolds with a fully automated system.
Manifolds with semi-automatic or automatic switching ensuring uninterrupted supply may also include a system for monitoring and signaling of gas pressure in cylinders.
By type of placement:
- With mounting on the wall.
- In the cabinet version.
- Containerized version.
Manifolds for high purity gases
Manifolds for extremely high purity gases are used for laser cutting processes, microelectronics, fiber optic production, as well as in laboratory installations for gas supply to instruments.
